Shippers and Receivers 


Shippers and receivers determine the method / arrangement of shipping, and prepare bills of lading, customs forms, invoices, and other shipping documents, by hand or by computer.


Work: Packing and labelling goods containers / crates and recording the contents, by hand or by computer, overseeing loading / unloading, inspecting and verifying incoming goods; rejecting damaged goods; and unpacking, coding, and routing goods to appropriate storage areas. They also maintain internal record-keeping systems, by hand or by computer, and operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment used to load / unload goods.

Degrees associated with this career: High School Diploma

Requirements: You usually need a high school diploma and some related clerical or warehouse experience. You may also need a forklift certificate and driver's licence. With experience, you may move up the ranks to become a supervisor. Most recent entrants have a high school diploma, and almost 1 in 5 has a trade / vocational certificate or community college diploma.
