Nursery and greenhouse workers plant, cultivate, and harvest trees, shrubs, flowers, and plants and spray them to prevent diseases / pests, position and regulate greenhouse / outdoor irrigation systems to water plants / fields, dig, cut, and transplant plants, shrubs, and flowers and prepare them for sale and serve customers and provide them with gardening / plant care information.


Work: Operating tractors / other machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest, and spray fields / plants, and maintaining inventory, order materials, and clean working areas.

Requirements: You may need a high school diploma or college courses in horticulture or a related field. You may receive on-the-job training and you may need a provincial / territorial licence to apply chemical fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, and pesticides. Most recent entrants have a high school diploma, and almost 1 in 4 has a trade / vocational certificate or community college diploma.
