Foundry Workers 

Foundry workers make moulds / cores by hand or machine, pour molten metal into moulds to produce castings, and operate furnaces to melt metals.

Work: People in this group work in refineries and plants that deal with raw materials such as copper, lead, zinc, uranium, and precious metals, and plants and mills that produce materials / make products out of materials such as steel, aluminum, cement, glass, concrete, clay, and stone.

Requirements: In general, you usually need a high school diploma. You may also need experience as a labourer, machine operator helper or as another type of helper in your area of work. You may need on-the-job training. Many recent entrants have a high school diploma, and almost 3 in 10 have a trade / vocational certificate or community college diploma.
