Mechanical Engineers 


Mechanical engineers research, design and develop machinery and systems for heating, ventilating and air-conditioning, power generation, transportation, processing and manufacturing. They also perform duties related to the evaluation, installation, operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.

Work: Mechanical engineers perform some or all of the following duties: , Research, design, and develop machinery/systems for heating, ventilating/air conditioning, power generation, transportation, processing, and manufacturing , Have duties related to the evaluation, installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems , Work with professionals from other fields, gaining knowledge/skills that may allow them to practise in associated areas of science, sales, marketing, and management, Work closely with civil, electrical, aerospace, chemical, industrial, and other engineers, resulting in job mobility between some fields of specialization in these disciplines

Requirements: You usually need a university degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field of engineering. , You may also need a master's degree or doctorate in a related engineering field. , You need a licence from a provincial/territorial association of professional engineers to approve engineering drawings/reports and to practise as a professional engineer (P. Eng.). , As an engineer, you are eligible for registration following graduation from an accredited educational program, after three or four years of supervised work experience in engineering, and after passing a professional practice examination. , With experience, you can move up the ranks to become a supervisor. , Most recent entrants have an undergraduate university degree, and almost 3 in 20 have a graduate degree.
