Managers in publishing plan and direct the operations of newspapers and publishing firms.

Work: Managers in this unit group perform some or all of the following duties: , * Establish procedures and implement policies in newspaper and publishing firms, , * Plan and maintain production schedules for publications, , * Prepare and control budgets , * Hire and supervise staff , * Initiate or approve development of articles and books, and liaise with authors.

Degrees associated with this career: Diploma, Bachelor

Requirements: In general, you need an advanced university degree and several years' experience in your profession, field or industry. In some instances, you may substitute appropriate work experience for educational qualifications. Some may need supervisory experience. , To be a manager in publishing, motion pictures, or other performing arts, you need a university degree or college diploma in communications, journalism, broadcasting or another arts field.
